Not even a Bailout came help us now.

I stepped away for a few days to see what I would come back to. Nothing! In my mind I had the next two stories all thought out. 1st one was titled OneSeason needs a Bailout. I mean what the heck every other failing company has there hand out, why not OS. My second story was going to be the The death of OS, The beginning to the end..... If any of you have followed my blog, (by the way the 1st and original OneSeason Trader) You will know that I had direct communications with OS via interviews, I pretty much called most of the changes before they happen. (not to toot my own horn) I have always tried to paint a happy face on the current situation weather it was good news or bad. A few post ago I stated that when the reverse splits started to happen that would be the beginning to the end. Unfortunately & sadly I believe I was right again. I asked, challenged and yes almost begged OS to do something to keep it alive. IMO that jump start needed to come from mass advertising. Not this mickey mouse stuff on sites that know one has ever heard of. It needed ESPN attention. If that meant sinking your last penny into it or refinancing your house then so be it. You have completely wasted this great concept called OS because you failed to plan properly. Number one, you rushed this to market to quickly and did not spend enough time in trial.(IMO) Then to help that cause you tried recruiting a few friends to help the launch on the premise that they will be the first people to buy IPO's and will make a killing. Well they did. They made a killing and took there money and ran. (for the most part). That was your first hurdle. After all of us spent a numerous amount of time convincing people that it was not over on various blogs and message boards. You on the other hand were spending time fixing all the bugs that came from the sudden explosion of new people looking for the quick fix. Somewhere in all this you forgot to tell the rest of the world about your great product. This wasn't Mike's plumbing company where you could possibly get by with word of mouth. (for awhile anyway) This was a sophisticated machine. A device that took peoples money and issued IPO's and SOI's for the fun and sport of trading players. A machine that needed a influx of new people and new money to make this work. The machine needed to be feed pure and simple. Without advertising the machine has died. Yes I said it, "DIED"! What you see now trading is residual leftovers of a once great idea.
In just over two months you have all witness a idea become reality and then sadly become a joke. What a sad story from a person and company that had so much promise.
I hope that for once I am wrong. I wish nothing but the best for OS and it players. I feel somewhat responsible for many of the new people that joined in the last month or so but I truly felt that OS had a chance. Once again I was wrong and I am sorry for that. For the record I have withdrew all cash and have started to sell my remaining portfolio. I may keep a few shares just to stop back and see an old friend until the days are no more.

Good Luck

No IPO's on this horizon

This is a follow up post to my November 19th post, "I'm not buying it". Ok, like I said I'm not buying it and a lot of you agreed with me. There are no IPO's on this horizon. Why? There's no activity. Remember IPO's are released base upon us, ( the trader) not when OS deems it necessary. I do not see any changes in the near future as well. What you see trading each day now is what I call boredom trading. Others are trying to call it day trading. A day trader by definition is actively searching for potential trading setups (that is, any SOI's or IPO's that, in the judgement of the day trader, is in a tension state, ready to move in price, that when traded well has a potential for a profit). Well IMO we are definitely in a tension state but I can't see the potential for major movement in the SOI prices as to make a whole lot of profit. In the OS world there is only one way to bet on a SOI, that's up. No Call options, or Puts and no betting a SOI will go south for profit.

So where does that leave us?

Well stagnate IMO. No great movement up or down. Like I said before, those of us who like the OS concept are just sitting and waiting, those new to the game are watching because of the current prices. Those who are trying to "Day trade" are doing more harm then good. OneSeason, the balls in your court. It's 4th down, very little time left on the clock. This site, OneNation, or any other low budget blog is not your answer. Mark my words, If SOI's start to reverse split, it will be the beginning of the end.

I'm not buying it.....

Ok, for some of you my posts have always been positive. Most of the time I have been right on the money as well. Look at the very beginning and you can see that almost everything that I stated has changed or come true. That being said I certainly don't claim to be able to predict the future or have any inside lines. It's merrily my observation and opinions.

I listen in last week to Mike Sroka's radio interview and tried to read (listen) between the lines. Something that caught my ear was why the market was down both in value, volume and activity. Mike explained that the "SOI's were finding the true value".  Although I do believe that this will be the case someday, I am not convinced that it is the case now. SOI's are not reflecting their true value based on any player performance, popularity or anything else for that matter. Activity is the key marker for my conclusion in this hypothesis. IMO we are not seeing the rush of people that we saw in the beginning. I am willing to guess that membership sign-up is off considerably from the beginning. I understand that you will see a mad rush at any launch but it has dropped off to much in recent weeks. Mike also stated that OS is currently advertising on YardBarker.com. I am glad that they are advertising but not impressed with who they are advertising with, YardBarker? It is a rotatable ad at best and come on not the readership I was expecting. I know for a fact that more can be done with regards to their advertising. Even if the budget is not there yet they have different opportunities that could be taken advantage of.

OS is at a critical crossroads for many of it's members. Some members are willing to sit and wait( me included) but most are not. This will be nothing more then a test drive that didn't fair so well if things don't begin to change. No more referrals and no more chatter on all the message boards. Cautious friends that did not choose to come on right away are starting to ask, "How is that OneSeason thing doing?" This will further decline the activity and bring SOI's even lower. As soon as the revers splits begin to happen I am afraid that it will be to late.

I am going to have to say that this is big disappointment for me. OS, step up and bring it to the masses. You have the power right now to make this as big as you want it. Practice is over! Game time is now! Lace up the cleats and let's get in the game!

Slow and sustained growth.....

It has been a couple of days since my last post. Thanks to LongP76 for his prospective into Oneseason as new trader.

Watching the market over the past several days it has been slow and steady. I think this is a good sign that maybe we are starting to see SOI's realize their true or more realistic values. This is not to say that we could still see a spike in either direction but hopefully we will not see the drastic declines.

Still more traders are finding the site everyday. Others are here because someone turned them on to it. IMO we are still in the very early stages and have not even seen the true growth of OS. When this is really
put out there
e for the public we will see a massive influx of new traders. People will be trying to buy up their favorite players and traders will be just starting their sportfolios. You know what that means ---------------------> My approach is to buy as many shares of players that I can get my hands on, let the market settle and just sit back and wait.

A Newbie's Perspective

I hope everyone is doing well on this big day, and hopefully everyone has been out to vote. If you don't vote...no bit@$ing about the guy who gets elected!
Being new to OS (less than 2 weeks), I wanted to share a newbie's perspective. The first day, I was hooked. I signed up on a Saturday, and Sunday I spent all day watching football and getting familiar with OS. Going into it, I set a $200 limit. OS was peaking, so $200 was gone in a wink. A few hundred dollars later, ODEN was released and I was lucky enough to get some shares...now it was really fun! It didn't matter that we couldn't afford dinner that night. JK...I'm not a college kid living in a van down by the river, as PowerBroker likes to say. But seriously, set a limit, set a back up limit, and just have fun. It's hard to put any rhyme or reason behind it at this point. I never believed in get rich quick schemes, nor do I believe this is one. I do believe that this great concept has come to reality, and my guy tells me I should feel lucky to be a part of it at its infant stage.
So happy voting, and happy buying!

A New Dawn

Well IMO it's a new dawn. How do I know? I don't. Can anyone predict what the market will do? No. So why am I so sure that things are going to turn around? I'm not. But I just said that it's a new dawn and things are going to turnaround. Let's just say I have a hunch. What the hell is that? A Hunch? This makes no sense! BINGO! (does it seem like I'm talking to myself)

To many people are still trying to make to much sense out of this thing called OneSeason. We have never seen a site quit like this before. That is one of the reason it is the way it is. It cannot be compared to the stock market, it's not even close. It certainly is not fantasy football and it's a long shot from card trading. I would say it has bits and pieces of each one of them all roll into one. We as traders have to figure out a whole new set of rules. We have to find out where rock bottom is and how far this can real go and be successful. Throw in all the things OS is coping with and you get what we have been through the last week or so.

So why do I think we are at the bottom? Well IMO we have gone as low as we can go. Grant it there maybe some people that want to see a reverse split take place but for the most part the strong and faithful will not be happy (including me) if our stock are taking away. We will do our part to keep things going in the opposite direction from a split. OS is working out the bugs with deposits which will help make the market stronger and the number one reason all most everyone is below IPO price and that's a reason to buy no matter if you a season trader or the lucky guy who is new to the site. Now is the time to spread the word before everything goes back up, and it will go back up.

Paranoia

Paranoia = is a disturbed thought process characterized by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory concerning a perceived market meltdown. Paranoid chat often feeds from it's self and spreads to others that maybe in contact with a infected individual(s). To avoid being infected with this problem go to your nearest fallout shelter and stay off chat rooms that promote fear and PARANOIA.

Ok call me crazy but I think I have figured out why the market has been down and I have discovered a direct correlation to the market being down and what has caused this collapse

 CHAT ROOMS!!!!!!

Ok hear me out..... Do you remember when (some of us do) you bought and sold SOI based on what you thought? Remember not selling a stock because some person who lives in a van down by the river said so? I do! I stop by some of the live chat rooms and read post after post how everything is blowing up. These chicken little chatters are always crying, "the sky is falling" no wonder new people are afraid to come on board.  All I ever read is the same stuff about what's not working, how slow the site is, "this is a sham", they have taken my money and left the country and a lot of depressing nonsense.  Mike Sroka has given suitable answers to these and other hard questions over and over again and still I see this stuff written.
So I challenge you, stay off the chat rooms if you are prone to Paranoia.

Comments From One Season

PowerBroker,

Your most recent blog entry is excellent. It includes some very revevant material in understanding implied price (the driver of total value).

OneSeason provides a virtual goods marketplace where willing buyers and seller can transact. Earlier today some user were experiencing display errors which we had difficulty replicating. Thanks to the help of some users who sent in screen shots we were able to locate the bug which we believe is fixed. The OneSeason market continues to be extremely volatile on a daily basis as the market grapples with price discovery for something new along with a rapid growing user base.

Thank you for coming on. We hope you enjoy the site.

Ponzi Scheme vs Pyramid Scheme

Ok I guess we have to talk about this stuff once again. Lets take care of a few house keeping things before we get started. #1 I have been on the site since the second day it has started. This blog was started on the 5th day of OneSeason started it's site and is the Original OneSeason Trader. #2 My real  occupation is a licensed broker / financial advisor. Since this is not a registered security I do believe I can leave out all of the regulator disclaimers that I normally need to place on everything. However in no way is any of the information given deemed to be advise on investing and all investors should consult with their own advisor before making any investment choices.
(This is not a investment vehicle and is not attended to be your new IRA) *dumb ass.....

All of that said I am not proclaiming to be a expert on OneSeason but as far as experts go who really is. I can tell you who's not, the bunch of collage kids that are the ones running there mouths off on the other blogs and making up these rumors every-time the market isn't up. This is what happens when new people start to listen to someone that only worries about buying condoms and beer for the week and then calling home to ask mom to refill his ATM because he forgot to eat. What did you expect???

The latest thing now is what they call a Ponzi Scheme, named after Charles Ponzi.  A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that involves paying abnormally high returns to investors out of money paid in by subsequent new investors, rather than from net
revenues generated by a real business. Some say it shares similarities with a Pyramid Scheme although the two are different.
Ok let's break this down for the guys who should be studying for their American history class.
1) No one is selling or convincing anyone to join the site and be involved with OneSeason.
2) In no way has OneSeason described it's self as an investment vehicle or any form as a investment. It is purely a entertainment site, For Fun Only.
3) No where does it describe that OS will guarantee any returns on SOI's / IPO's. SOI's prices are not determined by OS but by the value the traders set forth by supply and deman
d, popularity, and athletes performance.
4) OS only facilitates the activities for us (sports fans) which include the trading platform and the matching of buyers and sellers. We (traders) set the underlying price of any particular player and determine that players ultimate price and or value.
5) OS clearly states how they are compensated in their services on the  FAQ page which every trader should read.
6) This site bears no resemblance to a pyramid scheme by any definition. No one including OS is compensated based on any person joining the site nor is there any fee or membership fee that would be collected for such re-disbursal to a so called up-line.

As soon as the monkeys on this site stop treating it like their 401k the site will be better off. As far as I am concern this is a fun site. It allows a trader to buy and sell SOI's based on the traders personal views. Whether or not that is determined by a 5 touch down game or a player is busted for drugs. In the end it's all about the the competition to make the right trade.

It's a long road.........

It's a long road to big money. I hope that some of you are starting to understand that this is not going to make you a millionaire overnight, if at all. I see so many traders (newbies for the most part) log onto the site and think that they are going to make it big in a couple of days. Most of them got here by you and your word of mouth. Come on admit it, you told your buddy, "Hey I found this great site and I am making a killing". By the time they picked their screen name they already had it in their minds they would be up by 1000% by noon.

Now I'm not saying we all can't do well here, hell that's why I'm here. Just don't think that because your buddy put $50 bucks into the site and now is sitting on $4,000 that it's the norm. As more and more people join the site you will see less and less volatility. The markets will begin to stabilize and we will be buying and selling based on the athlete's performance and popularity rather then hype. I have already spoke with a company that will be putting out prospectus like info on each athlete. I am working on putting together a JocK average both IPO and SOI version similar to the DOW Jones average. This will help the traders that can't be at the computer all day. They will be able to log on to this site and check what the market is doing based on several key SOI players and IPO players. (Hey guy here's something else you can steal) Sorry inside joke.

Look this never gets old so I'll say it again, This is a great site! If your already here your in position to do well. Just be smart with your trades and don't panic. Buy and hold onto your shares and remember it's a long road ahead.

Sell Off

If your like me and you are a buy and hold investor you checked out early last night and figure it is what it is. Waking up this morning I never would have thought we would see the market this low again. Yes, I said again, this has happen before and it was just as bad if not worse. Everyone screaming "the sky is falling" and "I'm selling everything" it's not the first time some of us have heard it. Guess What? We're still here, and I'm still saying it's a good deal. Here's my recommendation: If you haven't maxed out your 2500 limit, nows the time to do it. There are some great buy IMO, LTEE @ 5.78, FAVR @ 4.47 and BRDY @ 4.65 ARE YOU KIDDING ME! These guys have been the work horse in my portfolio and will continue to produce.
I will say it again, if you are spending tomorrows lunch money on the next IPO, if
you have to ask mom & dad for a little extra in your allowance and if you live in a van down by the rive you should not be trading Jock Stocks!!! You guys are the ones helping the sell off.
So take a deep breath and get ready for a wild ride.
See you at the top.....

It's been awhile...

First off my apologies. I have not posted anything since 10/9 for two reasons. First we had a death in the family and had to make arrangements. But one of the first reasons was I wanted to do an experiment as one of the traders suggested. " How about we all take a week off, close our eyes, keep our stocks and turn Onesseason back on in a week". Well what I believe he meant was lets take a collective sigh and remember where we are in this thing called OneSeason.  Back then the market was seeing several days on downward movement. "No" wait a minute, was it really downward movement or were we just use to seeing 3 IPO's per day rocketing over $100 in the first two hours. I tend to think it was the latter. Never the less it is now referred to the "Big Correction". I have to laugh, it was only like two weeks ago.
I have seen so many things happen over the last two weeks. More people are flooding the site faster then ever, new servers to handle the traffic, traders making wigets, and spreadsheets to keep track of the latest numbers and OneSeason tweaking the system to make things better for all of us. I even see other blogs popping up with the same name. (Great site guys but you should have pick a different name...) Folks this is just the beginning. The site is not even 30 days old and it has a market value of 18 million. I remember when we just hit 2 million. We have not even seen the beginning of what this could bring.
Let's try another experiment, how about you post where you think OneSeason will be in the next two weeks, two months or two years.  Here is what I would like to see.......
September, 4th 2010: OneSeason announces global expansion into Asia, India, and Australia adding to the European nations this will give an estimated market value of 3.5 trillion dollars. A far cry from Oneseasons first month in business when they only had a 26 million dollars of market value. ****Look for OneSeason's new ATM in a sports bar near you where you will find the OneSeason ticker trader. You can now slide your Oneseason debt card and make trades instantly at your local pub. **** Blackberry announces a OneSeason Trader BlackBerry called Trader-One which will be release later this year. Now you can keep track, make trades and be alerted when ever you see a good buy. (valid only with a new purchase and a 16 year agreement, early termination will deducted from your OneSeason account in the amount of $1600.00)
This all may be fantasy now but I remind you look how far we have come in 27 days.

Good Luck and IMO, Everything is a Buy!!!!!!

Rare Air

Ok I want to ask this question.  As we dictate how players are traded and evaluated on this site how does one find a value for a retire, but future hall of fame player? Michael Jordan..... In my opinion there could not be a better person to test the waters with. No doubt the best basketball player that ever lived. (IMO) We will see tomorrow what his stock will bring. With 400-800- shares being released I'm sure the demand will be high. I no that my sportfolio would not be complete with out him in it. I, along with many others will hoping that we are awarded AIRJ.

So who's next? Terry Bradshaw, Bobby Clark, Dr J or let me through this at you. How about someone that is no longer here,  Reggie Lewis or maybe a Pat Tillman???? How does someone like that get valued or do they even make the cut and become a Jock Stock????

Something to think about
